Like It's a Law (The Diary)
A pop-rock song with a reggae pulse about being handed a version of your own story and told it is final.

About the song
“Like It's a Law (The Diary)” is an original pop-rock song with reggae touches, written and performed by Dusan Velickovic, a singer-songwriter from Serbia who lives in Vienna. It is the most direct song in his 2026 run of releases: guitars up front, an off-beat reggae pulse underneath, and a chorus built to be sung back.
The song starts in childhood: hallways, paper planes, playground kingdoms with asphalt thrones. Two kids promise “always” like a vow. Years later one of them talks as if a diary were a legal text, every page sounding like sworn testimony, and the other is told he is the only one at fault for every scar. The chorus keeps repeating that accusation until it feels like a law, which is exactly the point.
The last section turns the argument around. Instead of defending himself, the narrator asks to read the page: “Show me the page.” It is a song about blame, memory and the way a written story can harden into a verdict, told with a melody that stays friendly even when the lyrics are not.
There are two versions on streaming services: the full 4:25 song and a 2:52 radio edit for playlists and radio.
Listen for the contrast between the relaxed reggae groove and the sharp lyric, and for the spoken-sung bridge that starts with “Bring it, read it, let me see it.”

Lyrics
Like It's a Law (The Diary)
Dusty shelves and windowpanes
We said always like a vow
Didn’t know what breaks it now
Are we living dreams from then
Notes we couldn’t pay in pen?
Did you write while I believed
Lines of blame I never read?
Did you write my ending there?
You’ve been saying, you’ve been saying all this time
That I am, that I am the only one
Whose fault is, whose fault is every scar
It’s written in your diary
Like a law
Playground kingdoms, asphalt thrones
Paper crowns and cardboard homеs
We were cеrtain love was strong
Kids don’t think that they are wrong
Now you talk like it’s decreed
Like your book’s what truth should be
Every page you turn on me
Sounds like sworn testimony
Did you write my ending there?
You’ve been saying, you’ve been saying all this time
That I am, that I am the only one
Whose fault is, whose fault is every scar
It’s written in your diary
Like a law
Bring it, read it, let me see it, every line you ever sealed
If that book’s your final witness let it testify what’s real
How you split a life in sentences, how you split a child in two
How you close a world in chapters like I never mattered to you
If the ink already judged me, if the verdict’s signed and staged
Put that diary in my hands — let me read it page by page
You’ve been saying, you’ve been saying all this time
That I am, that I am the only one
Whose fault is, whose fault is all we are
If it’s written in your diary —
Show. Me. The. Page
Ink remembers
So do I
